Sydney
 

Sydney, the state capital of New South Wales in Australia, is not just the biggest, oldest, the most prosperous, and the most wonderful city in Australia, but also a centre of manufacturing, business, banking, transportation, tourism and trade. The city which calls people’s imagination, also the biggest center for wool trading center, is the most famous cities in the world.

Sydney, located at the southeast coast of Australia with a total urban and suburb area of about 1, 2407 square meters. Sydney's urban area is in a coastal basin, which is bordered by the Hawkesbury River to the North and the Royal National Park to the South, the Pacific Ocean to the East, the Blue Mountains to the West with elevation of 42.1 meters. The city of Sydney divides into 2 parts which southern part is to the Botang Bay and the northern one is to the port Jackson.

Sydney has Mediterranean climate with mild temperature and sunshine all year round. Due to its location in the southern hemisphere, this city has the opposite season with Guangzhou: summer comes from December to February with average temperature of 22℃, when the sea wind dominates; winter is from July to August with average temperature of 13℃. Annual mean temperature difference is just 7.8℃. The mean annual precipitation is 1,205mm and 342 days in a year enjoys full of sunshine.
The population in Sydney is about 4,000,000 which accounts for 20 percent of the whole population. Although Sydney enjoys very high urbanization, it has low density.

On May, 1986, Sydney and Guangzhou established sister city relationship.


【Development History】


In 2003
        Mr. Zhang Guangning, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, led the Guangzhou Economic and Trade Delegation to Australia from April 18 to 26, 2003. the delegates attended the Ppening Ceremony of the Guangzhou Commodities Exhibition Center (Australia) on the afternoon of April 19, 2003. On the morning of April 19, 2003, Councilor Nick Forgoes from the Sydney city Counc9il met Vice Mayor Zhang Guangning at the Sydney City Hall.

 

In 2005,Sister city tour from Guangzhou visited Sydney for the dragon boat race.
