On 6th July, Mr. Tang Hanghao, Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou Municipal Government, met with Delegation of Fukuoka-Guangzhou Litchi Association from Japan in Guangzhou city government office. Mr. Tang looked back on the thirty-year’s history since Guangzhou and Fukuoka became sister cities and expressed his sincere hope to enhance communication between Guangzhou and Fukuoka in fields of both governmental and non-governmental exchanges and economic cooperation. He wished that closer communication would promote the friendly relation between the two cities. Mr. Wang Fuchun, Deputy Director General of Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, Mr. He Desi, Deputy Director General of Guangzhou Harbor Bureau and Ms. Ling Jingmin, Deputy Chairman of Guangzhou Women’s League accompanied to attend the meeting.

Fukuoka-Guangzhou Litchi Association was found in April, 2008 by Japanese people with goodwill. The Association aims at promoting non-governmental exchanges between Guangzhou and Fukuoka and it at present claims a membership of over a hundred.
